The ball cylinder is a colourful, attractive stimulus for the infant who is ready to be on the move. To be offered to the infant around 6-8 months, or whenever the infant is ready to creep across the floor. The infant will be motivated to creep towards the tumbling balls, developing his/her motor control. When the infant reaches it, his/her hand-eye coordination improves as he/she reaches out to grasp one of the bars and begins shaking the cylinder, producing the soft, tumbling noise. As the child gains strength, he/she will be able to roll the cylinder farther away, encouraging the child to the next stage of development of crawling towards it.
The balls have a non-toxic varnish on them, ensuring the material is safe to fully explore. The wood is lightly stained with olive oil and upon request it can be ordered without a stain (non-oiled).
All of our materials are recommended by the AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) Assistants to Infancy and come with product description cards, describing purpose and usage.

Great quality enjoyable toy. A bit heavier then expected so watch bub picking it up and can whack face! On the ground the cylinder rolls just enough to encourage movement. Excellent toy

We've recently introduced this toy to our 4 month old since he is now rolling from back to stomach. He bats at and reaches for it and I think it will be a great toy to encourage movement and concentration.
