In a world full of noise, this simple rattle is perfect as one of the first auditory materials to offer to an infant around 2 months. Most rattles are so big they end up looking like a bar bell when offered to an infant. This rattle fits perfectly into an infant's hand so that he can develop his hand for purposeful grasping. He will at first bat his arm around and later purposefully shake the rattle. Each time he makes the soft sound he gains a sense of purpose as he makes his own music. His eyes will be attracted to the sound and he will begin to track the toy, aiding in eye development. The material also feels wonderful to the infant as he mouths on it with the smooth wood and coolness of the metal bells.
The bell rattle is made with a hardwood dowel and is lightly sanded to provide a smooth finish. The metal bells are secured using a non-toxic glue. Please give this material a quick check each time it is offered to the infant to ensure it is safe for the infant to fully explore.
All of our materials are recommended by the AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) Assistants to Infancy and come with product description cards, describing purpose and usage.
